Case: CitySlate
CitySlate's mission to provide a free service also meant that there was no full-time staff or budget for commercial software. I created an interface that enabled a single operator to easily maintain the site while keeping low costs by leveraging open source software.
Extensible listing engine: The engine was designed to grow as the site matured: a framework that accommodated additional content types, and geographic locale segmentation.
Category administration: A simple interface allowed the administrator to add, edit, and rearrange each of the listing categories.
Anonymous email forwarder: An elegant integration of Procmail into the listing engine enabled users to receive email responses about listings without worrying about revealing their actual address to anyone.
Integrated listing administration: Inline management functions allowed the administrators to maintain the web site without having to learn a different interface.
